Disability Awareness Training
Help yourself to help others
Anyone who meets members of the public, during their work, is advised
to gain an understanding of how to relate to people with disabilities.
According to the Disability Discrimination Act which is now being enforced,
employers and their staff have a duty to provide an equal standard of service
to all their clients and customers.
Sight impaired people do have special needs when they are in unfamiliar
surroundings so it is important that you know how to approach them
and how to give them assistance, if required.
An easy way to help you fulfil your statutory obligations is to
attend one of our “visual impairment awareness” training
sessions. We recommend that this is associated with general disability
awareness training.
EYE OPENER
offers half-day training courses which give you the opportunity
to become familiar with the correct way to help someone who has
problems due to sight loss.
A certificate will be awarded, on completion of the course.
